The Aleutian Bidarka is the oldest kayak design known. Its multi-chined hull is lashed with many lashings. These kayaks are built around the paddler's proportions. The Bidarka is an exciting and intricate kayak to build.
Bidarkas are excellent touring kayaks providing tremendous gear carrying capacity. Two students should attend to build a double or triple.
Build your own Aleutian Bidarka in a one week workshop.

" .this is the most amazingly stable boat I have ever been in..It was an interesting sensation to feel the waves through the skin, crashing into the hull underneath. I was surprised at how responsive this boat is to slight shifts in weight from one side to the other. This is what all the kayak courses tell you to do for minor corrections, but never really seems to have an effect, until now. Mark, this is one heck of a boat design and I have no clue why anyone would paddle anything different. Thanks." Franz
